Updates: Supplement Connection and New Report Feature
Supplements with Genetic Connections:
I have a love-hate relationship with supplements. Half of me thinks that supplements are great and wants to try out everything I read about. The other half scoffs and thinks I just need to eat more whole foods. This is why the Lifehacks sections of Genetic Lifehacks articles have both research studies on diet and on supplements. You choose what works for you -- or go back and forth between the options like I do.
Many members join Genetic Lifehacks specifically because they are looking for answers in their genetic data about which supplements are likely to work best and which supplements to avoid.
This week, I updated my supplement overview article to make it easier for members to create their own personal supplement plan. It is organized by supplement, with relevant genetic variants and an overview table to highlight benefits and interactions at a glance.
If you need professional help dialing in your diet, supplements, or testing, be sure to check out the PRO member directory. You'll find doctors, psychiatrists, health coaches, and nutritionists who understand genetic data, with many offering telemedicine or video conference options.
New site features:
With over 500 articles and 5,000 daily page views, Genetic Lifehacks has grown steadily over the past five years. As the site has expanded, it's turned into a bit of a behemoth. So we've been spending time recently working on some core functionality.
I've implemented a new search feature. Search is still a work in progress, but I'm hopeful that it will soon help you find exactly what you're looking for more quickly.
By member request, we've added the effect allele frequency (how common the allele is) into the overview sections of the articles and into the summary reports.
I've moved support and knowledge base documents into a separate site for easier searching. Let me know if it is missing a help topic that you've been wondering about.
What's next?
As a completely member-supported site, we are always working to improve your experience on Genetic Lifehacks. I have a long list of requested articles and topics to update, so you'll see new articles on APOB, copper, mental health, and more within the next month.
One of the most common ways that new members find out about Genetic Lifehacks is from a recommendation from friends and family. Could you do me a favor this week and tell someone about Genetic Lifehacks?
Gratefully yours,
~ Debbie
